Eco Explorers: Costa Rica
What's in store
Designed for middle grade kids and up + their parents, this eco-immersion experience balances adventure with reflection and real-world learning. Students will meet wildlife rescue teams, explore mangrove waterways, learn from marine conservation educators, and step into the field—listening for frogs and reptiles after dark, watching whales off the Pacific coast, and studying coastal habitats through the work of Reserva Playa Tortuga. With play and down time woven in, families will also connect to Costa Rica’s culture, food, and daily life—not just its scenery.
A semester-long ecology and conservation guide accompanies the trip, extending the learning beyond our time in-country. This is education that doesn’t stay on the page—students will return with sharper questions, deeper wonder, and a felt understanding of stewardship that stays with them long after the rainforest fades into memory.
“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” -Jane Goodall
Itinerary
Manuel Antonio/Quepos
Over ten days in Costa Rica’s South Pacific, families step into living systems—rainforest, mangrove, and sea—to explore how nature functions, how it is protected, and how human decisions ripple through the environment. Students engage with biodiversity up close, learn from conservationists and wildlife rescue organizations, and investigate the balance between tourism, development, and preservation. The experience weaves together science, ethics, culture, and place, helping students move beyond observation toward understanding their role within the natural world.
While the itinerary is robust and engaging, there is still space for play, rest, and connection.
