The connection of all things:

Ecology in the Everglades

Live the spirit of the river of grass

Marjory Stoneman Douglas called it "the river of grass" — a slow-moving, endlessly alive wetland unlike anywhere else on Earth. Throughout this journey, we invite your family not only to learn about the Everglades, but to experience its rhythm firsthand: slowing down, staying curious, and discovering a wild Florida most people never see.

This Everglades homeschool experience is designed for middle grade kids and up + their parents. Grounded in holistic education and guided exploration, your family will:

  • Engage with wetland ecosystems, from sawgrass prairies to mangrove estuaries and coral reef

  • Observe wildlife up close — alligators, dolphins, tropical birds, and reef life

  • Learn from park rangers, wildlife rescue educators, and Miccosukee culture keepers about this ecosystem and the Indigenous heritage tied to it

  • Slow down and reflect during free time — beach mornings, pool afternoons, and group moments that bring the wild spirit of Florida to life

This is learning that reaches beyond textbooks: through real-world science, cultural connection, and mindful presence.

"There are no other Everglades in the world." — Marjory Stoneman Douglas
